11 Wedding Emergency Kit Must-Haves

Creating a wedding day emergency kit is a worthwhile and even crucial part of your wedding preparations.

We feel confident that if you include these 11 things in your emergency kit, you will be prepared for just about anything… Double-check you have included these items and tell us in the comments what we might have missed!

  1. Sewing Kit:

You never know if a button might pop loose, or you will need to fix a seam in the pants of one of the groomsmen. Must-haves for your sewing kit might include thread in multiple colors, needles, safety pins, buttons, and small craft scissors. Safety pins can quickly save the day by holding just about anything in place. And anything too delicate to be held in place by a safety pin can be held together with a few stitches with a needle and thread. Don’t forget a pair of small scissors if there are stray threads or a forgotten tag to snip!

2. Super Glue - Clear Nail Polish:

Clear nail polish is one of the oldest tricks in the book for repairing a snag on tights or a run in your nylons. Super glue is also perfect for repairing a broken heel on a shoe. But don’t mix the two up! No one wants nylons glued to your leg all night.

3. Water - Granola Bars - Favorite Snack:

The biggest advice we share with our brides and grooms is, “Eat!” We are sure you had a great time the night before at the rehearsal dinner celebrating… So make sure you have something in your stomach before the wedding day begins. Nerves will kick in soon enough, and you will forget to eat. Stay hydrated and bring a favorite snack with you to munch on while hanging with your bridal party.

4. Ibuprofen - OTC Medicine - Band-aids:

A headache or other pain can be expected at times - especially if you don’t eat properly, as explained above. Having a pain reliever on hand will be a lifesaver, so you don’t miss any part of the day. Bandaids are great to have, too, if someone breaks a nail or has a blister from new shoes!

5. Bobby Pins - Hair Ties - Comb:

Your hairstylist will spend so much time making sure every little hair is in place; it’s great to make sure you have backup supplies. Just someone lightly leaning in to hug you and say congratulations can make some pieces come loose, so you’ll be grateful to have a few spare pins. Trust me; your girls will make sure all that hair is just perfect! And after the day is over, hair ties are great in case you want to take all those curls down and throw them up casually for the evening!

6. Hairspray:

Hairspray is best known for keeping hair in place, but also, did you know that it can help get stains out? If you go outside to take some pictures and get a spot or two on your attire, you’ll be searching for a way to get them out before the ceremony. A little hair spray and blotting helps get that out! Who knew?!?

7. Tissues:

This is pretty self-explanatory. You have waited a long time to marry your best friend, and emotions can get the best of you. You’ll want to make sure you have something to keep your makeup from getting messed up or mascara from running all over the place. Keep a couple of tissues tucked into your bouquet, or ask your maid-of-honor to keep some extra with her, too.

8. Floss - Mints:

Since there will be many photos this day, help your smile look its best by keeping some floss ready! Popping a couple of mints between kisses from your favorite someone never hurts either.

9. Lint Roller:

A travel-size lint roller is perfect to ensure every last inch of your groom’s suit dust-free right before he goes out for the ceremony. Have the best man carry this with him or leave a spare in the groom’s getting ready room.

10. Makeup:

While dancing the night away, you may want to freshen up! It’s great to keep just a few of the most important items (like powder, lipstick, or blotting cloths) with you throughout the day and into the evening. Not only will your photos look fresh every time, but you’ll feel more confident without the sweat from 2 pm still hanging on.

10. Perfume - Deodorant:

And finally, you want to smell good for your big day, right? Keep some deodorant and your signature perfume handy, so your groom can enjoy that special scent at first kiss, first dance, and, well, the entire evening…
