Let's Talk about Micro Wedding Trend....

The Micro Wedding Trend

We have heard a lot from recently engaged couples interested in micro weddings, so we decided to explain a little more about them to help you find the perfect space for your micro wedding.

A micro wedding is similar to a traditional wedding with a ceremony and reception, but the guest count is much smaller, usually 50 people or less. One benefit of this is that the wedding budget goes much further. Some couples who have chosen this option have been able to splurge for their 50 guests. They could've never done this with the 200 guests they originally planned to invite. We love the micro wedding trend.

When deciding what kind of venue you want to have your micro wedding in, there are many options. We talk about semi-inclusive and all-inclusive venues in a recent blog here. You can learn more about the different venues you are looking at so you know a little more about them when searching.

When emailing a venue, ask what the packages include and the venue's timing. When you book a venue, whether you have 30 people or 300 people, it's based on the time you need in the venue. 7-8 hours for a micro wedding package or 12 hours to ensure you have plenty of time to get ready before the ceremony. A micro wedding is still trendy, along with other post covid trends you can read about here.

A micro wedding is more focused around dinner and less on the party after. It's an expedited timeline that allows you to enjoy all the traditional events, but it's a shorter period than the traditional 9 hours of ceremony and reception. It would consist of a timeline like this:

1 pm arrival at the venue

3 pm guest arrival

3:30 ceremony

4pm cocktails/pictures

5 pm dinner

5:45 toast

6 pm cake cutting

6:15 first dances

6:30 open dance floor

8 pm end of the event

9 pm exit as newlyweds

The difference between this and a 12 hour day is you have more time, in the beginning, to come in and get ready with the hair & makeup team, and it's more of a relaxed setting of getting prepared and decorating. It also allows for a 2 1/2 hour dance party at the end instead of just 1-1 1/2. With having a micro wedding, there isn't a reflection in pricing based on guests count, but it's more of the timing in the space. The venue is still reserving the day for you and your event. If you want to compare a typical timeline for ceremony and reception, you can view the recent blog here about creating the perfect timeline for your special day.

We hope this helps as you search micro wedding tradition. We love the smaller and more intimate events, and we would love to talk to you more about yours.
